In 2004, API Group set up the first factory - API Heat Transfer (Suzhou) Co., Ltd., with an initial area of 4,645 m². The strategic layout laid a solid foundation for development of API Group in the Chinese market. With the continuous increase in the demand for heat exchange equipment in the Asia-Pacific region, API Group commenced the construction of Phase II expansion project in 2011, built the second factory in Suzhou and put it into operation, thus achieving a leap in the production scale. To meet the further increased market demand after 2014, the second factory completed the transition from technical upgrade to capacity upgrade, forming a dual-factory collaborative production pattern.

So far, the two factories have covered a total area of 40,444 m² including 16,944 m² for the first factory and 23,500 m2 for the second factory. The spatial expansion not only meets the large-scale production requirements of all types of heat exchangers such as plate, shell-and-tube and air-cooled heat exchangers, but also provides a technical validation site for custom product development.

Relying on the global technology sharing system of API Group, the Suzhou factories continuously introduced the internationally advanced manufacturing processes and quality control standards to ensure that the industry-leading product performance is achieved. By establishing a local R&D team, the factories deeply participated in the design of heat transfer solutions in key domestic fields such as new energy and chemicals, thus forming the double advantage of "global technology + local service". The customer-centric business mode has made API Heat Transfer products highly praised in the Chinese market and expanded to Southeast Asia and other Asia-Pacific markets, which strengthens the API Heat Transfer's position as a global heat exchanger leader.

1879

Schmidt, a pioneer in the heat exchanger industry, was founded in Bretten, Germany.

1947

American Precision Industries was established in Buffalo, New York, and developed its business by relying on the early local industrial infrastructure

1953

Basco was established in Western New York to support the rapidly developing compressor industry in this field

1996

API established a new plant in Arcade for the production of air-cooled heat exchangers.

1997

Insilco acquired ARUP in Dortmund, Germany

1997

ThermaSys acquired Schmidt

1999

Insilco acquired Thermal Transfer Products located in Racine, Wisconsin

2004

API established a factory in Suzhou, China, with a plant area of 50,000 ft²

2006

The Suzhou factory doubled in size and started production on all production lines

2009

The Buffalo factory was expanded and developed the additional manufacturing capacity

2010

ThermaSys acquired Covrad Heat Transfer in Coventry and Serck Heat Transfer in Birmingham

2011

The second factory of API Heat Transfer in Suzhou was constructed and put into operation

2015

API established a factory in Pune, India

2025

API has continuously developed new products to provide customers with comprehensive and high-quality heat transfer solutions
